Quality Service Since 1971 “The best asset is my employees,” said Jeff, “and the key to this business has been diversity and making sure our clients are absolutely satisfied. We have to know more than they do, at all times. We better have figured it out after more than 35 years.” Not only does Hartman Companies have the expertise of experience and personnel, they’ve got the vehicles to do the jobs. “It takes three to four weeks just to change the oil,” he said. A rather recent sideline is Rain-Smart. Jeff explained that with protection and conservation of the environment becoming a growing cause, he felt the need, and desire, to go the extra mile to protect and conserve water. “Rain-Smart will keep sprinkler systems from operating when it’s raining outside,” he said. “Rain sensors are becoming mandatory. We were ahead of the game.” Landscaping for both residential and commercial is another service of Hartman Companies. The work that is part of Hartman Companies will probably continue to grow with the needs of the community as well as needs beyond the community. That would not be unusual for Jeff Hartman. He’s been growing his vision and his companies ever since he was earning 50 cents an hour from his dad. Jeff keeps a large 8x10 photo of Marv on the cabinet in his office. Marv was the one who ruled the roost with his children -- Jeff, Debby, Jerry, and Terry -- all of whom are successful in their own businesses today. All of them have improved Carver County, and especially Victoria. Jerry and his wife Ann and family live in the City of Carver, Minnesota, and operate a nursery of their own at that location. Debby, married to Darryl Wrolson, operates and manages Hartman Realty, with offices in the Clocktower Building in downtown Victoria. Terry Hartman, married to Monica, is president of Hartman Communities, a land development company that develops properties and builds homes. He also built the Clocktower Building. How did the many talents and abilities of the Hartman siblings come to fruition? Said Jeff, “Mom was the angel over the top of everybody. She made it easier to work for my father. She made it sane. Mom was the glue that held it all together. She was our moral support.” Marvin Hartman died on June 26th, 2004, at the age of 67. Caroline Hartman currently lives up at Walker, Minnesota. |
