City Scoop Continued |
*Council adopted an ordinance that requires site plans and building materials for all new construction projects in downtown Victoria -- as well as any additions greater than 20% of the gross floor area -- be reviewed by the Planning Commission and Victoria City Council. *The ordinance stipulates that wood, along with hardiboard, be identified as an accent material and not a primary material. Stated Jim Paulsen, “We’re making a 50-year decision. The owner might be making a 6-month decision.” *Council approved refuse, recycling, and compost hauler licenses for 2010 to Allied Waste, Dick’s Sanitation, Elite Waste Disposal, Franck’s Sanitation, Organic Disposal, Randy’s Sanitation, TCW Disposal, and Waste Management. *Council adopted a resolution that requires the city to have declared an official intent to reimburse itself for previously paid project expenditures out of the proceeds of subsequently issued bonds. *Council authorized the Victoria Fire Department to apply for a Minnesota Valley Electric Comapny operation roundup non-matching grant in the amount of $1,525 for the purchase of two coldwater/ice rescue suits. They will be replacing two older suits which have small leaks in them. *Council re-appointed Bill Olson and the city’s representative to the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District. Stated Mayor Thun, “Bill does add some fresh air to the board.” *Councilmember Jim Paulsen pointed out that there is no sign on new Hwy 212 pointing or giving direction to Victoria. “I don’t want to be left out,” he said. |
