The next day, after the tree fell and it was hauled away, Hartmans returned haul in new black dirt, relay the sod, rubber roller-rake the scene, and re-install the stone wall. By later afternoon I felt some raindrops but had time to plant several big elephant ear hostas in the new black dirt in the space once occupied by the majestic maple tree. |

Our backyard was filled with the loud and sustained sound of a chainsaw working at the base of the tree … and then the noise stopped as the tree began to move. It landed with a thud and then a bounce that could have been disastrous to the deck. But it was a success story and all’s well that ends well. |
