Hail Mary. It lasted less than five minutes and splattered our deck and the lawn with mothball size hail, but it did not damage lawn furniture or potted plants. It ripped a few large hosta leaves and that was about the extent of damage. The brief hail storm occurred in parts of the community on the evening of Thursday, June 5th, 2008. The victory earned the team a berth to the MBT (post season) State Tournament. Two-Time Champs. Chaska’s 12AA metro baseball team, including players from Victoria, Cologne, Chanhassen, and Chaska, prevailed in the 12-team Mankato tournament of the June 20-22 weekend for its second tourney championship of the season. The Beasts won all six games by a combined score of 66-20 while out-hitting the opposition 91-28. All 12 players contributed in big ways at the plate, in the field, and on the base paths. One of many highlights of the weekend was consecutive suicide squeeze plays in the bottom of the last inning of the semi-final for the tying and winning runs. The Hawks followed that up with a one-hitter vs. LeSueur for the championship.
