SHORTER SCOOP FROM MARCH MIKE POPPITZ CALLED SUPER VOLUNTEER *Council approved the agreement and release of claims between the City of Victoria and Independent School District 112 related to Victoria's soccer fields adjacent to the Victoria Recreation Center. The agreement states that the City of Victoria assumes responsibility for the completion and re-construction of the soccer fields upon receipt of the bonding company's payment of $98,500 from ISD 112. *Council approved a performance agreement with Thru City, one of six groups to be performing on Wednesday evenings this summer for Concerts in the Park. *Council approved a license agreement for Mike Poppitz to continue volunteering for the City of Victoria in connection with parks and recreation activities. Director Ann Mahnke said that in 2009, the volunteer work of Mike Poppitz was worth $15,000 to the city. Stated Councilmember Kim Roden, "Maybe we should have a new process for Super Volunteers to the city." *Council approved the hiring of Jennifer Christ for the front desk position at the Victoria Recreation Center. *Council approved a license agreement for Karen Marcouiller to provide personal training services at the Recreation Center. *Councilmember Kim Roden reported March 14th that she received word that the court case involving Pete and Ethel Nelson at Smithtown was settled and it's a confidential settlement. *Council accepted donations from Joseph and Ruth Romanowski, the Goddard School, Elite Waste Disposal, Ridgeview Medical Center, MN Valley Electric, Bertas Funeral Home, KleinBank, Salon Spatoria, FSI International, Holday Station Stores, Hultgren Hoxie & Waki, Lighthouse of Waconia, Paul and Michelle Aspelin, Randy and Suzette Maluchnik. *Council approved the ordering of plans and specs for the rehabilitation of Lift Station #5 that serves Mount Olivet Church, Mount Olivet Rolling Acres Residence, and two single family residential properties. Pumps, panel, and mechanical piping have served their useful life. |
