*Councilmember Jim Paulsen said on July 10th, “The cost of trail systems is getting larger and older.  The maintenance of trails is somewhat akin to maintenance of streets.  I want to put forth to Council that a certain portion of the street budget might be used on trails, that this could be an emerging conversation.  We’ve got assets.  We’ve paid for them.  We should protect them.”

*Councilmember Richard Tieden thanked Parks and Field House Director Ann Mahnke for her work.  “Things are looking really good,” he said, “and people are saying good things and membership is increasing.”

*The Victoria Fire Department was the recipient of the following donations:  $121 from Woodlands Homeowner Association; $120 from Gregory and Kristy Hocamp; $230 from Mike and Cindy Schmieg; $100 from Jonathan and Tammy Lueck.

*Council approved the Miracles of Mitch Foundation’s request for a permit to conduct a lawful charitable gambling raffle at the Deer Run Golf Club.

*Active memberships at the Victoria Field House have now climbed to 304.

*Due to construction of a new ice arena in Waconia, the Waconia Hockey Association opted out of a contract for ice at the Victoria Field House.  Waconia hours (348) were shared with primary users:  Holy Family Catholic High School, Minnetonka Youth Hockey Association, and Chaska Youth Hockey Association.  Staff is working on ice time sales to make up for the 31 hours that might still be remaining.

*Council approved the Chamber of Commerce request for a temporary noise permit for Volksfest on Saturday, September 20th, from 9 a.m. until midnight.  Holly Kreft pointed out the band will actually be playing, however, from 9 p.m. to midnight.  Mayor Thun clarified that businesses would have to apply for their own noise permits for that day if they needed them.
