Letters to the Editor |
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I found the fishhook on page 10 in Floyd’s ad in the letter “l” of their logo at the top of their ad. I just love your paper and read every word in it, even the ads. I am intending to read it by internet when my subscription runs out. I’ve brought up your website and looked at the many accesses you have, and especially your “Headlines and Bylines” page. How do I get to read those whole articles? I like to read all the articles by your many writers, especially Mike Wartman, but when I click on the blue letters of his headline (and others), nothing happens. How do I open up his entire article? What am I doing wrong? Also, I would like it if more issues of the Gazette were available in your online archives prior to the year 2000. I am not able to go to the museum or libraries anymore as, at my age and living in Assisted Living in Chaska, I gave up my car and driving license. Both were due for renewal now, insurance and license. There is no garage here for a car. I will turn 85 this month so it is time to stay off the roads. I will miss driving once winter is gone. Bernice Barris Chaska, Minnesota
EDITOR’S NOTE: At this time the complete Gazette is only available in print.
To the Editor: Let me be one of the many readers to thank you for your dedication to the Victoria community and the hard work you put in each month in the Gazette. Though many years removed, reading the Gazette makes it feel that I am still walking the streets of Victoria (but where is Leo’s Bar or Tuffy’s Tavern?). That being said, I feel you crossed the line last month in your Editor’s Note addition to the article on the warning for folks to be cautious about the 2010 U.S. Census. Was this scare tactic meant to be a helpful hint? While we all should be wary about grafters and identify theft, it angers me to think that you see census takers and the U.S. government as the enemy. Do you think that census workers are any less “loyal and legitimate American citizens” than anyone else? Do you really think that the U.S. government has “an agenda not compatible with democracy”? Do you really think that “Big Government” is watching everything? That Big Brother knows how much money is in your coin purse ($4.56) or counts how many times you went to the bathroom on December 14th, 2008 (six times) and would use this “to subvert the inherent rights of loyal and legitimate American citizens”? Your view or warning truly saddens me. Pat Wartman, Federal Employee Washington, D.C. Former Resident of Victoria
EDITOR’S NOTE. You are misrepresenting me, dear Patrick. The simple fact is, I have come to be distrustful of the U.S. Government for many reasons, all warranted, and I don’t like giving information to those I don’t trust, so I’ll be keeping it to a bare minimm.
To the Editor: Found the fishhook on page 10 in Floyd’s ad, on the letter “l.” I always look for the hook first and then read the news. Chaska is having a Red Cross Bloodmobile on February 22nd, 2010, at the VFW on County Road #110 in Chaska from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. Call Linda at 952-448-3815. Walk-ins are always welcome. Homemade chili and chicken noodle soup to all donors! Thanks, Sue. Linda Worm Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thank you for your support. Without you I couldn’t be successful. Please let me know if I can be of any help to you or your friends. Notice my new designation, CDPE. This allows me to help those facing a short sale situation. Wishing you the best in 2010. Nan Emmer Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I enjoy reading your newspaper each month. I have worked for small town newspapers (LeSueur, St. Peter, Belle Plaine) and I think you have a wonderful example of the type of community news that readers will never see in big city papers.
