119 NEW HOMES

FOR VICTORIA IN 2013

Mayor Tom O'Connor spoke to residents on January 13th in regard to the 2013 year-end report from the Victoria Planning Commission.  "You would do well to spend some time to slug through it," he said.  In the council packet, the report was on the consent agenda.

"This group of individuals on the Planning Commission does a tremendous job," said the mayor.  "It's edifying to see the thoughts and discussion of these five dedicated people.  The Council gets the credit and the press, but every other Tuesday night the Planning Commission sits and works for hours for us."

Those Victoria residents serving on the Planning Commission at this time are James Donadio, Ken Goulart, Jeff Loeschen, Grant Peterson, and Todd Triethart.   Holly Kreft, the Victoria Community Development Director, serves as the staff liaison to the Planning Commission.

The report indicated there were 119 new home permits in Victoria in 2013.  Of those units, 95 were single family homes and 24 were townhomes.

         Average household size:  3.

Estimated population of Victoria at the end of 2013 is 8,299.

Estimated total households units is 2,696.

Number of vacant lots available within Victoria city limits:  160, most within Lake Wasserman Ridge, Lakeside Estates, Laketown Eighth.

Built out in 2013:  Madelyn Creek, the only multi-family development.

Deck permits issued in Victoria:  91.

Subdivisions reviewed:  17, compared to four in 2012, two in 2011, zero in 2010.

VICTORIA PLANNING COMMISSION REVIEWS 2013

AND EYES POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENTS IN 2014

At their meeting on Tuesday, January 21st, the Victoria Planning Commission reviewed an overall picture of nine plats for which they made recommendations to the City Council in 2013.

The plats -- sketch, preliminary, or final -- included two additions at Krey Lakes, Rhapsody North, Ambergate, Lake Wasserman Ridge, Lakeside Estates, Wasserman Lake Woods, Laketown Eighth Addition, and Chevalle 17th Addition.

Presiding at the Planning Commission meeting, Community Development Director Holly Kreft pointed to three properties for upcoming development, potentially in 2014.  They include the Swain Property (an acreage on the north shore of Schutz Lake), the Lano/Burau Property (acreage on the west edge of Madelyn Creek), and the Arboretum Property (acreage near the Holy Family Catholic High School).
