Victoria Gazette - Hook Line & Sinker Column

I think I've only missed one ice fishing contest here in Victoria these past many years, and it was because we were visiting some exotic place with our travel friends. That time I asked a photographer from Excelsior to attend the fishing contest and get some pictures for me. His name was Tim Riley; may he rest in peace. Tim was younger than I and also much heavier. He was a kind person and that's all I know or knew about him. His photos from the Victoria Fishing Contest were outstanding, almost as good as mine. Just kidding!

I'll be on the lake again this Sunday, also known as Super Bowl Sunday. If you see me traipsing through the snow and ice with my baby camera and big husband, wave me down and I'll take your picture for the Gazette. There are always more people than fish on Stieger Lake that day, and also many more prizes and hamburgers than fish.

In the meantime, I dipped into the minnow bucket of entries and pulled out Jo Gothmann of Waconia to win the $10 check. Congratulations, Jo. The fishhook was indeed hiding in the snowflake on page 18.
