To the Editor: I would like to purchase six copies of your December 2004, Volume 25 Issue 12. Would you mail them and bill me at my address below? Barbara Carlson is my classmate and we are having our 67th class reunion and I want to share this great story at the dinner. Jim Carlson is also a Roosevelt graduate. Thank you. Ethel Van Ryswyk Deer River, Minnesota
To the Editor: Please offer your congratulations to our Posse. We are very proud and honored that they represent all of Carver County in such a positive manner. Wm Blaire Anderson, Chief Deputy Carver County Sheriff's Office
To the Editor: Enjoyed reading the feature story on Larry Blake last month and also the picture of Addie making her First Holy Communion. How the time goes by so fast. Keep up your good work. Finding the fishhook on Yetzer's sofa was fun. Have a nice day. Take care. Marie Otten Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I think you might get a kick out of this. I gathered props for a staging of Bye Bye Birdie by Eden Prairie Players, which opened last weekend at the outdoor amphitheater at Staring Lake Park. In the first act, Mr. MacAfee is reading the May issue of the Victoria Gazette with Fr. Larry's picture on the front! I'll try to get a picture of the scene for you to put in your scrapbook. Our granddaughter Julia Rodenz turned one last Wednesday! Can't believe a whole year has gone by. Have a great week. Sandy Rodenz Chanhassen, Minnesota
To the Editor: Clear roads on the freeway during the summer don't give drivers a free pass to speed. In July 2001, Carver County motorists will face enhanced speed enforcement patrols as part of a statewide campaign coordinated by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety. In Carver County, an average speed citation for 10 mph over the limit is $130. Motorists stopped at 20 mph over the speed limit face double the fine, and those ticketed traveling more than 100 mph can lose their license for six months. Speed is the most commonly reported contributing factor in fatal crashes. During 2007-2009, speed was a contributing factor in seven fatalities in Carver County and 325 traffic deaths statewide. The Carver County Sheriff's office cites the dangers of speeding. They include greater potential for loss of vehicle control, increased stopping distance, less time available for driver response for crash avoidance, and increased crash severity leading to more numerous and severe injuries. Another safety concern is the high number of motorcyclists on the road. A major factor in rider deaths is unsafe speed. More than half of all motorcycle crashes are single vehicle events in which the rider loses control of the bike and runs off the road or crashes. This campaign is about preventing tragedies that don't have to occur if we drive at safe speeds and have some patience behind the wheel. Sheriff Jim Olson Carver County, Minnesota |
