To the Editor: You might be able to guess it before you read the poem, but just in case ... I do not have a face to see or put inside a frame. I do not have soft cheeks to kiss, I don’t yet have a name. You can’t yet hold my tiny hands nor whisper in my ear. It’s still too soon to sing a song or cuddle me so near. But all will change come October, that’s when they say I’m due. I’m your new grandson or granddaughter; I can’t wait till I meet you. All I ask between now and then is your patience while I grow. I promise I’ll be worth the wait because of all the love we’ll know. So what I have to give you now is a wish to you from me. I cannot wait to be part of this wonderful family.
Love, Your newest grandchild (and Nick and Jen Orsen) Brooklyn Park, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I tried to find your phone number to call you but I did not find one so I am emailing you. Colleen and I just returned from paying our last visit to Father Elstan down here in Illinois. I know that they are bringing the body up to Minnesota so you will also be able to say goodbye to him. I still cannot believe that Father Elstan died. I will miss him. We have, I believe, a good friend in heaven. You and so many other friends have been in our thoughts and prayers. You were very special to Father and to us also. Lots of love and prayers to you. Sister Marilyn Smolinski St. Louis, Missouri. |
