Letters Continued

Dedicated to the sunshine of truth,

the moonshine of meeting deadlines,

and the starshine of Victoria.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  It was fun seeing you at the Ribbon Cutting ceremony last week.  Our son Nathaniel made the Dean's List at Wheaton College and I didn't know if they contacted you or not.  He is a biology major (pre-med) in his second year there.  Nathaniel is so busy and I just wanted to contact you with this information.

I also need to get a picture to you with the news of our son Zach's graduation from pilot training with the Air force last September.  He is currently at the Altus AFB in Oklahoma for advanced flight training and will afterward be stationed at Fairchild AFB near Spokane, Washington.

Did I tell you we were first-time grandparents?  Zach and his wife Rachel had a beautiful baby boy, Ethan James, a week after graduation in September.  Ethan is now five months old.  Love to see your grandchildren in the Gazette and how they are all coming along.  Take care.   Hope to run into you at the new Library sometime.

To the Editor:

Thank you for the extra papers.  All my children liked the article.

To the Editor:

Congratulations for your story about Virginia Harris, the first City Administrator of Victoria.  This lady did pioneering work, if you take into consideration the immense changes that already happened in our society.  You put it well forward.  Can it be that the name Germaine Jesberg has been in your Notes and Quotes column in years past?

I'm sending birthday congratulations for your dad's 90th birthday.  Will you be the go-between for us?  Then I still have another item.  Benny Jennen will have on the 5th of April 2015 (Easter) her 80th year birthday.  I know it will please her if the American Jennen branch will send her greetings or an electronic card.  Her email address is benny.jennen@belgacom.net.

Till next time, grey winter greetings to you all across the Big Pond.

To the Editor:

Sue, did you know that Allan Sauter passed away a couple of weeks ago?  I do not know how old he was.  He was more involved in the Oddfellows than he was in Masonic and Eastern Star.

I worked with Roy Sauter, Allan's dad, at the University of Minnesota Fruit Breeding Farm from 1950 to 1955.  Allan was our paper boy.  Did you know that he had died?  His services will be at the United Methodist Church in Excelsior on February 27th, at 1:00 p.m.

To the Editor:

If your mouth is starting to water for smelt, you are in luck.  The South Haven Fire Department Smelt Fry is Saturday, May 2nd, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the City Hall in South Haven.  It is a long way to go for smelt, but worth every bite.  We went last year and it was excellent.  If you can't eat smelt in Victoria, I say eat smelt in South Haven.

I found the fishhook in the Waconia Ford ad around the letter "C."

To the Editor:

Holy Family Catholic High School sent two Robotics teams to the FTC Robotics State competition in Prior Lake the weekend of February 20th.

Robby Bremer of Chanhassen, John Galioto of Chanhassen, Mairead Kane of Prior Lake, and Joe Esenther of Shorewood were part of the Galaxy Division at the state tournament and captured second place overall.  The team will move on to the 2015 FTC North Super Regional Championship in Iowa in March to compete against more than 60 teams from 11 different states.

To the Editor:

The Hwy 5 public meeting for Victoria will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10th, at the new Victoria City Hall.  This is located at 1670 Stieger Lake Lane.  Project information will be displayed and MnDOT/City Staff will be available to discuss the work, schedule, traffic impacts, access, etc.  If you can include this in your Hwy 5 story, that would be great.  The City of Victoria will also be sending a notice to residents and business owners.  Please let me know if you have any other questions or need more information.
