Veterans Day. Wednesday, November 11th. A legal holiday formerly known as Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I in 1918, followed by peaceful relations between the people of the United States of America and other nations.
Thanksgiving Day. Thursday, November 26th. A day to remember the original pilgrims who celebrated the autumn harvest with a feast of thanksgiving, held as a gesture of thanks to Almighty God. Thanksgiving Day was first celebrated in the year 1621. After the United States gained independence, Congress recommended one yearly day of thanksgiving for the whole nation to celebrate. The fourth Thursday of November, was proclaimed a national holiday by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863 in the midst of the Civil War. Christmas in Victoria. Saturday, December 5th, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Victoria City Hall and Library in downtown Victoria. Pictures with Santa, Storytelling, Horse and Buggy Rides, Cookies and Cider, Firepit, Chanhassen H.S. choir and HFCHS Voices of Fire. Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m.
City Council Meetings. Second and fourth Mondays, November 9th, and November 23rd at 6:30 p.m. City Hall on Stieger Lake Lane in downtown Victoria.
