To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I no longer have a child at Victoria Elementary School. My position as Parent Involvement Coordinator ended in June. I do not know if the new PIC will be writing an article for the Gazette. There always seems to be plenty of parents and staff who write about the main things happening at VES. I will miss writing for you. If you need any further help down the road, keep me in mind. Debi Ylitalo Victoria Elementary Parent
To the Editor: Today, as I write, it is 9/11, the anniversary day of the attacks on our country by people who were filled with hate. Join me in prayer that we are not filled with hate, but that, in Christ’s name, we love all brothers and sisters on this planet. We remember those killed and pray for their families. We remember our nation and pray for our role in leading the search for global peace and justice. May God keep us all as His servants in peace. Blessings and love. Pastor Frank Jones Lake Auburn Moravian Church Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Della Hartmann recently died. She was a sister to our Lenny Koehnen. She was only 76 years old. Della had been married to Paul Hartmann, Jr. who preceded her in death. Paul was the son of Paul Hartmann who ran the old DX Station in Victoria for many years. Ron Holtmeier Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: We have lived in Victoria since 1962-1963 with rainwater from all over the city that found its way down our hill and into the yards of our neighborhood, including our yard. Well, it is time to say a big thank you, as a resident of Victoria Circle, to any and all who had anything to do with our curb and gutter that is getting installed as we speak. We wish to say thank you to the Victoria City Council, the engineers Adam and Cara, the construction company, the supervisors and crew, for their long hours and hard work. Thank you to the Victoria Circle of neighbors helping one another accommodate the construction process. It has been a long time coming, and we await the rain for the big test. Thank you, Sue, for always being at the Victoria City Council meetings and keeping us updated through the Gazette with things going on in the city. We are most grateful to you all. Dave and Loretta Kocka Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: We have been asked by the City of Victoria to provide a Candidate Forum for the City Council/Mayoral elections. We are also sponsoring a Candidate Forum for MN State House Legislative Districts 34A and 34B races, which impact Victoria. Attached is a letter to the editor with informational resources about being an informed voter. There are also calendar entries for the above races. We would appreciate it if you would print them both in your October Gazette. Sharon Moeller and Bev Geffert Eastern Carver County League of Women Voters
EDITOR’S NOTE: Candidate forum for Victoria Mayor and Council races: in the City Council Chambers at Victoria City Hall, 7951 Rose Street, on Tuesday, October 14th, at 7:00 p.m. Candidate Forum for MN State Legislatives in District 34A and 34B: in the Council Chambers at Chaska City Hall, One City Hall Plaza, on Monday, October 27th, at 6:30 p.m.
To the Editor: I have taken the liberty of copying Ethel Ausink’s September column and passing it on to friends. The article, “Black Liberation Theology,” should be in every newspaper across the country. Your fishhook is on page 35 in the clouds of the artwork. Helen Schimmelpfennig Fish Creek, Wisconsin
To the Editor: You put out a very nice paper, and finding the fishhook is fun. It’s above the tent with the feet sticking out of it. Susan Graff Carroll, Iowa
To the Editor: I have just read an article on the internet that you had written in September of 2000 regarding Ida Plocher. I am somewhat related to her. She is my grandfather’s brother’s wife’s parent. Yeah, I know it is a stretch. I found the article very interesting and very well written. At the bottom of the article there are captions related to photos. The photos are not included in the article online, however, and I would be very interested in seeing them and copying them into my genealogy project. Would you be able to send them to me? Thank you. Tammy Sandersfeld, via email
