Irrigating Poppitz Field. Here are some pictures of the irrigation project that we just finished at the baseball field at Lions Park.  I guess it’s called Poppitz Field now.  The person in the backhoe is my oldest son Troy.  The two shoveling in the hole are Pete Bren and Nate Schmieg, and the guy in the white t-shirt is my younget son Clark.  We turned the irrigation on during the week of September 21st.  It’s up and running great.  We do have a rain sensor on it, so if we get any rain it will not run.

In answer to your questions, Sue, I suppose the idea to irrigate was mine.  We had talked about it for several years.  It was paid for through a donation from a family at Holy Family Catholic High School and from the Victoria Lions.  It cost around $9,000.  Aqua Pro, a company from Watertown, did the system.  The project took about six working days.  We started construction the last part of September.  It took Troy and the guys one day to dig in the main and five days to get the irrigation in and running
