Full Moon. Thursday, October 5th. The moon is fully illuminated as seen from earth. At Full Moon, the moon and sun are on a line with earth in between, as though the moon and sun are sitting on either end of a seesaw.

VFD Open House. Monday, October 9th, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Victoria Fire Station. Supper and refreshments provided. Tours, rides, and educational demonstrations for all ages.

Columbus Day. Monday, October 9th. Observed annually on the second Monday of October, celebrates the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the New World of the Americas in October of 1492. Columbus was an explorer and sailor by occupation, Italian by birth, and Catholic Christian by faith. His voyage was sponsored by the Catholic sovereigns of Spain, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.

Improv. Sunday, October 22nd, at Enki Brewing. 5 p.m. Sponsored by the Lake Auburn Moravian Church.

United Nations Day. Tuesday, October 24th. In 1948, the UN General Assembly declared October 24th, the anniversary of the Charter of the United States, as which shall be devoted to making known to the peoples of the world the aims and achievements of the United Nations and to gaining support for its work.

Lions Halloween Party. Saturday, October 28th, 2 to 4 p.m. at Bayfront Plaza in downtown Victoria. Trick or treat, games and prizes and free apple cider and cookies too.

Halloween. Tuesday, October 31st. The earliest documented customs attributable to Halloween proper grew out of the tandem observances of All Saints Day (November 1), a day of prayer for saints and martyrs of the Church, and All Souls Day (November 2), a day of prayer for the souls of all the dead. Among the practices associated with Halloween during the Medieval period were the lighting of bonfires
