More Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:
A wonderful community bloodmobile was held in the City of Victoria on January 29th when 110 people showed up to donate a pint of blood - in spite of the weather.  A total of 95 pints were collected with 14 deferrals and one incomplete draw.  Special thanks to the recruitment callers, the St. Victoria Parish, those who helped with publicity, those who helped the day of the draw, the Victoria Lions, Chaska McDonald's, and all the donors including those who walked in without appointments.
Congratulations to Mandy Young, first time donor; Ed Stark who reached the two-gallon mark; Ellen Bleck, three gallons; Michelle Kaufhold who has donated eight gallons!

To the Editor:
It's about time to renew my subscription to your newsy and wonderful paper.  Thanks for the good coverage of the public school bond issue and the new Holy Family Catholic High School.
It's always nice to see the pictures and read the write-ups of the people I know from the wonderful St. Victoria Parish and the people who live and work in Victoria.  Thanks very much.  Keep up your talent and good cheer.  I've heard many nice comments about your paper.  God's blessings to you and your family.  Enclosed is a check for your paper.

To the Editor:
The family of Father Brennan Schmieg, OFM, would like to thank the many friends and relatives of Fr. Brennan for their expressions of kindness.  Your thoughts, prayers, flowers, gifts, and words of condolence are greatly appreciated.  The presence of many priests and brothers and the kind words of Father Conran Schneider and Father Bob White were a source of great consolation.  Thank you to Jamie Moore and Sharon Schindler for the beautiful music.  Thank you to those who pre-pared and served the delicious lunch.

To the Editor:
I would like to thank my friends, neighbors, and relatives for the kind-ness shown to me upon the death of my brother, Father Brennan.  Whether you brought food, sent a card, called, or remembered me in your prayers, please know I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

We have been notified by our newsprint vendors that our rates for white newsprint purchases will increase by 8% on March 1st.  At that time you newsprint prices will increase by approximately 7%.
We will not be changing any other prices at this time, although we are watching canary newsprint pricing, with a possibility of some price changes in the near future.

To the Editor:
We have several families from Victoria that have students at Our Savior Lutheran School in Shorewood.  Might you tell them, and others, that Our Savior will observe National Lutheran Schools Week March 5th to 11th?  We have several events planned to commemorate the week, including the Winter Ensemble Recital.
Several staff members will also be honored for milestones they have reached in their years of service, including Mrs. Linda Bergan, Mrs. Mavis Boyd, Mrs. Janet Frigard, Mr. Joe Aurich, and Mrs. Marian Klatt.
Lutheran schools provide an excellent education in a caring atmos-phere that addresses the students' intellectual, moral, physical, and spiritual development.  Our Savior Lutheran School was established in 1984.  It is located at 23290 Hwy 7, just east of the intersection of Hwy 7 and Hwy 41 in Shorewood.  Please call me at 952-476-8020 for further information.

To the Editor:
We really were pleased with the wonderful article you did on our daughter Susan and husband Michael and the boys.  Susan was very pleased with it as well.  We are sorry we weren't able to get together with you while they were here after Christmas.  They arrived here from Jerusalem on December 29th and left again on January 6th, so we had a good week together.  They were able to go cross country skiing at Carver Park on three different days.  They all enjoyed that and who know how long it will be before they will be able to do that again.
They plan to be here for about a week this summer during the end of July and the first part of August.  Maybe we can get together then.  It was a wonderful holiday season for us.  The last time we were together at Christmas was in 1997 when Judy, Wilfred, and I went to Vienna for Christmas when they were living there.  That was a wonderful experience as well.  We have been blessed with a number of special times together.  But most of the time we are far apart.  It is so wonderful to have Judy living in Victoria now.  I wish Susan and her family were living closer also.  Maybe someday.
We enjoy your paper so very much.  I read everything.  By the way, do you know that Susan Boatman from Clearwater, Iowa, who had a letter to the editor in your January Gazette?  She said she had heard our Susan and Michael speak at a Global Mission Conference in Decorah, Iowa, last summer.
