More Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:
Is it true that when the cattle herds of Carver County heard about the naming of Guernsey Avenue, there was loud bellow-ing of discrimination?  The Holsteins and Jerseys were in udder confusion.  The beef herds claimed to have a bigger steak in the project.  There was really a bunch of mad cows.
When the Cream of Bovine Society heard about Guernsey Avenue, they want-ed to get into the act.  After chewing their cuds over it for a while, they decided the tail had gone on long enough.  And since they had nothing to hide (hide?), they said it would be prudent to mooooove on it post haste.
In the end they decided to flock together and take their complaints on foot and mouth to the proper channels in an effort to satisfy all concerned.  It was decided to change the name of Guernsey Avenue to Cow Pie Trail.

To the Editor:
Thank you for the feature article in the Gazette last month, done in your inimitable style.  Shocking revelations to many, we are sure, but we received many comments and good wishes because of it.  We would like to thank our children for their letters, touching and, oh, so gratify-ing.  What a wonderful party they gave us at Saturday's Open House.  Thanks, kids.  You make us feel truly blessed.  And thanks to all our friends and relatives who made it a special day.  Love from both of us ...

To the Editor:
Hello, Sue.  I'm one of the many grandchildren of Gordon and Clara Diet-helm.  First, I'd like to say what a great article you wrote on them.  I even learned some things I didn't know.  I love the paper, and I always have to go to my mom and dad's (Charlie and Norma Diethelm) to read their Gazette.  But recently I sent you my own subscription information with the $10 and was just checking to make sure you got it.  I hope Mike Wart-man never stops writing his articles.  They are one of my favorite parts of the paper.  Wow!  What memories he brings back.  Thanks so much.

To the Editor:
Hooray!  I found the fishhook on page 36 in the slanting tire.
Indeed, in the March Gazette, Jesse Coghill wrote upon the Irish, the Germans, the Czechs, and the Scotsmen, but he forgot others, and Amber Kamerud in the April Gazette is right, on page 42, with her poetic verse on Swedes and Norwegians.  I also enjoy Spencer Free on the same page with "The Human Touch," a lovely poem, very lovely.  And on page 16 is a lost gray cat in Victoria!
My sister Mariette is at home after the removal of the gall bladder and she hopes to be good now for ten years.  I
e-mailed also to your mother as an answer to her Easter wishes.
Love,

To the Editor:
You wrote a great article on a won-derful couple, Jerry and Gerda Schmieg.  Their family put on a memorable party.  The fishhook is hooked on the tire on page 36.  If I win the drawing, you can use the $10 to pay for a subscription for someone who can't afford one.

To the Editor:
With the March issue of the Gazette, Esther Krey received an envelope regard-ing your annual subscription.  But I did not receive such an envelope.  Was this just an oversight?  Did someone goof?  Did the Post Office screw up?  Are you giving me a free year's subscription?  Are you sending out envelopes at a different time this month?  Anyway, I do not wish to miss a single issue of your great news-paper.

EDITOR'S NOTE:  All 3,900 Gazettes in the March mailing were supposed to have contained a subscription envelope asking for $10 to help keep my masthead above water.

To the Editor:
The people of Victoria should be very pleased to know that their state represen-tative, Tom Workman, is demonstrating real leadership on election issues in our state.  I would like to thank him publicly for it.
Last week the State House took up a number of measures to strengthen Minne-sota's election system.  These included measures to provide equal access to ab-sentee balloting for military and overseas voters, to require voters to show a photo ID to receive a ballot, to provide technolo-gy for sight-impaired voter privacy, and much more.
Representative Workman was instru-mental in passing all of these House initiatives to ensure honest and fair elections.  He deserves a big thank you from all of us.
Thank you.
