To the Editor: We look for the fishhook every month. This time we had to look six times through the paper and I found it in the boy's hockey helmet on page 27. Here's the money for another year of the Gazette. Good job. Marlene and Bill Paal Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thank you for getting the news to us every month. Nice pictures of the Victoria Fire Department Fishing Contest last month. We should start seeing signs of spring after the floodwaters go down and things dry out. Enjoy the warm weather. Sandra Dahl Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thank you for another year of the Gazette and thank you also for the wonderful music you played for my sister in law, Sally Kerber's funeral at St. Victoria. You are special. Julianne Hennen Eden Prairie, Minnesota
EDITOR'S NOTE: The landscape of Victoria residents continues to change.
To the Editor: A Cologne family suffered the total loss of their home to fire in the early morning hours of Friday, March 4th. Shortly before 1:00 a.m. that morning, caseworkers with the Carver County Red Cross responded to an emergency call at a single family residence on Joyce Road. The family of three was sleeping when the fire broke out. They were alerted to the fire by the family's dog. All four family members, including the dog, made it out of the house safely with no reported injuries. The house was listed as a total loss. Representatives from the Red Cross were able to place the family at a local hotel within two hours of receiving the call for help. The family received two nights' lodging at the hotel and vouchers for food and clothing. The Carver County Red Cross responds to between six and eight emergency situations in Carver County each year. When a family is displaced from their home, the Red Cross provides food, shelter, clothing, and health services. These services are provided at no cost to the family by trained volunteers. All assistance given by the Red Cross is free, made possible by donations from the general public. If you would like to donate funds to the Chapter to enable them to continue their mission in Carver County, please mail a check to Carver County Red Cross, P.O. Box 686, Norwood Young America, MN 55368. Lavonne Kroells, Chapter Manager Carver County Red Cross
