April Fool's Day. Tuesday, April 1st. A day when humor reigns and harmless pranks, practical jokes, and hoaxes are sanctioned. Origin of April Fool's Day is obscure. Earliest reference is in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
Open House. Thursday, April 10th. Learn about the upcoming construction on Highway 5. At the Victoria City Council Chambers on Rose Street, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Lions Spring Fling. Friday, April 11th, from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the City Hall on Rose Street.
Palm Sunday. Sunday, April 13th. The day when Christians celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ, Son of God, into Jerusalem. Also called Passion Sunday. Crowds greeted Jesus by waving palm branches and covering His path with palm branches.
Deer Run Open. Tuesday, April 15th. Deer Run Golf Course planning to be open. Only one week later than normal.
Good Friday. Friday, April 18th. The Friday before Easter Sunday. Commemorates the passion, suffering, crucifixion, and death on the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Easter Egg Hunt. Saturday, April 19th, at Lions Park, the South Shelter by Poppitz Field. Starts at 9 a.m. Sponsored by the Victoria Lions.
Easter. Sunday, April 20th. Greatest feast on the Christian calendar, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Turkey Hunt Opener. Wednesday, April 16th. Bag limit for the Spring Turkey Hunt is one wild turkey with a visible beard. MN's first turkey hunt was in 1978.
Birthday. Cowboy Tom Stumpf will be 60 years old on April 20th, Easter Sunday this year. No longer on a rocking horse but far from a rocking chair.
Earth Day. Tuesday, April 22nd. A day to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970
Holocaust Remembrance Day. Monday, April 28th. A day when special effort is made to remember and inform about the horrors of the Holocaust, when 6 million Jews, and many others, were mass murdered by Nazi Germany during World War II.
Victoria City Council Meetings. Monday, April 14th, and Monday, April 28th. 6:30 p.m. at City Hall on Rose Street. Scheduled monthly for the second and fourth Mondays.
