To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Enclosed is my check for $25 for another year of the Gazette. Had thought that I could enclose the location of the fishhook but cannot find it. Barb Johnson Sacred Heart, Minnesota
To the Editor: I loved seeing the picture of my grandsons, Mike and Andy, in the February paper, at the Fishing Contest. Their dad Jim brought over 15 sunnies a few weeks ago. He keeps me supplied with fish. Thanks again, Jim. I found the fishhook on page 23 below the picture of the Fire Department members. Enclosed find a check for another year. I enjoy your paper. Irene Schleicher Shakopee, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I have always enjoyed the Gazette, and especially now that we live in Victoria. Thanks. Elaine Ward Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I brought my Gazette to Fort Myers with me. I found the fishhook on page 23 with the Victoria Fire Department picture. Temperature here is 86 degrees today. Better than 30 in Minnesota. Isabel Kroening Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Keep up your incredible work. Kurt Zuppke Pierson Lake
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Thank you for all the information you provide monthly through the Gazette. Jerry and Cindy Beneke Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Customers faced high heating bills as a result of significantly higher natural gas prices and because Minnesota residential customers used more natural gas than last winter due to the cold weather. This was the coldest winter in three decades. We are projecting that the heating bills of Minnesota customers for the past five winter months (November through March) will be about 32% higher than last winter. For example, a typical customer whose heating bill totaled $490 for the winter of 2012-2013 will have paid an estimated $645 this winter. Federal energy assistance funds for low income customers are still available through the State of Minnesota. Xcel Energy customers who need help should call 1-800-895-4999. Thomas Hoen, Xcel Energy Minneapolis, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Don't you dare take me off the mailing list. Ha, Ha! I enjoy keeping up with all my relatives in Victoria, among other things. Victoria is a special place to me. My mother was Helen Diethelm. Every Saturday evening in the late '40's, we used to take a few cases of eggs and trade them at Notermann's store for groceries. While my mother shopped, my dad Bill would go into Weber's and have a few beers with my uncles. My sister Izzy (Isabel Kroening) and I would go into Weber's about every ten minutes. To get rid of us, they'd buy us gum, candy cars, etc. Saturday evening was Band Concert Night. Approximately from 7 to 8 o'clock they'd pull out this wagon with a screened in area on top. The town band would play marches, polkas, and waltzes with some dancing in the street. Great fun. My Uncle Hank Diethelm played in the band. Don't remember who else played. In 1946 my brother Rube came home from the Navy. He played baseball for Victoria with all the Diethelms, Notermann's, Schmiegs, Schneiders, Wartmans, etc. I was at age 10 the bat boy. The next year he started the team in Chanhassen, which led to many battles on the baseball field. What wonderful times they were. I was just going to write a few sentences but kept going. All the best to you. Harry Bongard Eden Prairie, Minnesota
