GAZETTE

August 2011

To the Editor:

The government shutdown in Minnesota during most of July didn't keep builders from pulling permits.  Residential construction in July 2011 almost mirrored June's figures and ran almost 40% higher in planned units than July of 2010.

According to statistics compiled by the Keystone Report for the Builders Association of the Twin Cities, there were 257 permits for a total of 370 units during four weeks in the month of July 2011.  Year to date, there were 1,581 permits issued for a total of 2,294 units.

Farmington led the metro in building activity for the month with 71 units.  Blaine followed with 42 units.  Chanhassen has 32 units with Plymouth and Prior Lake rounding out the top five at 19 units each.

To the Editor:

Thank you for the nice notice of our Open House in the June issue of the Victoria Gazette.  Also thanks for the cash gift.  We were able to donate $1,050 to Birthright and $1,000 and 284 pounds of groceries to the Waconia Food Shelf.  Everyone enjoyed the huge pizza and huge chocolate chip cookie.  You would have liked it.
