To the Editor: I am a resident on Red Oak Drive and I love this newspaper. Gina Konz Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I read your Quotes column in the July edition of the Victoria Gazette, and I had to send along a note to you. Thank you for sharing those great quotes from President Reagan. He was God's blessings to this country and the song is true when it says, "We don't know what we've got 'til it's gone." How I wish the present generation could have been around when he was at the helm. I fear that we as Christians, who have God's Word and should "have a clue," fell into slumber and were drowned in "the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of riches." Rather than praying for our "leaders and those in authority" as the Scripture commands, we turned to the TV and slumbered on. And you are absolutely correct about people "wanting to have their ears tickled." Our current administration should verify that. Thank you also for your Editor's column. I commend you for your courage to boldly print where you stand and what is truth, especially in a day where Biblical truth is not considered "politically correct." How utterly refreshing to read something that left me smiling and nodding in agreement rather than shaking my head in disgust. Just wanted you to know that one of your readers really appreciated your efforts. A fellow believer, Sharon Davenport Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Your Victoria residents placed 7th in the Mayor's Challenge and have pledged to save 1,762,812 gallons of water over the course of the year. We have had residents from 3,600 cities take the water conservation pledge. Over 23,000 people across the U.S. are taking 277,742 specific actions over the next year to change the way they use water in their home and community. Because of their commitment, 1.4 billion gallons of water will be conserved, reducing landfill waste by 179,000 pounds and greenhouse gas emissions by 5.3 billion pounds. This phenomenal response is a great indication of how just one pledge can influence our future generations for the better. We send Mayor Tom O'Connor and the City of Victoria a heartfelt thanks for being a part of this challenge and hope that you can sign up for the next year. This will allow us to grow the outreach of our challenge, allowing us to accomplish greater awareness and reduce waste tremendously. We hope, by your continued support, we can change the way America conserves water and reduces their carbon footprint. Michael Jurinek Wyland Foundation Irvine, California
To the Editor: Hello. I am the granddaughter of Frances Grimm (Williams), daughter of Wendelin Grimm. I have read all I can find on my great grandfather Wendelin Grimm and will be in your area on July 17th. Is there someone that you could advise me to contact to see if my husband and I could tour the Grimm Farm? From what I can tell, it is not open all the time. Carol Harper Overland Park, Kansas
