*Council authorized application to the MN Secretary of State Offices for an Election Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Grant in the amount of $7,500. The City of Victoria will be adding a third polling site in 2012 and certain accessibility voting equipment is required. *Due to a delay in placement of seed this fall, the final completion date of the Diethelm Park Soccer Field Improvements is anticipated to be June 15th, 2012. For failure to substantially complete the work on time, the city is deducting $8,400 from monies owed the contractor. *Council approved the refinancing of the 2006 street improvement bonds totalling $1,495,000 at a cost of $44,840 and a net savings to the city of $182,657. *Council approved a raffle permit for the upcoming Ice Fishing Contest Fundraiser sponsored by the Victoria Fire Relief Association and a bingo permit for a fundraiser at the St. Victoria Catholic Church. *Council approved the hiring of Brady Lee as a permanent Public Works Worker effective November 16th. He successfully completed the six-month probationary period by demonstrating necessary skills. *Administrator Don Uram reported November 14th that fiber construction continues in downtown Victoria, with a lot of work along 86th Street and Narcissus. "The project is moving along very well," he said. "They've been able to put in two to six miles per week. Should be through in Victoria in November. Everything should be up and running by late next year. They're doing directional boring." *Council accepted four donations on November 28th: Toys from Colleen Fraser for the Park & Rec Dept, $75 from Bryan and Laura Hinz for the Fire Department, $300 from Mount Olivet Rolling Acres for the General Fund, $75 from Amy and Simon Wing for the Fire Department. *Council formally accepted the Marsh Lake Area Study Report (discussed on page 23 in this issue of the Gazette). As Holly said, "This study has been in process for three years." As Jim Crowley said, "This document doesn't require any party to do anything." |
