Victoria Lions Christmas Party. Friday evening, December 2nd. Social time at 6:00 p.m. Dinner at 7:00 p.m. Victoria City Hall on Rose Street. Spouses are invited to this Christmas party.
Christmas in Victoria. Saturday, December 3rd. Stories, carolers, tree lighting, shopping, holiday cheer, cookie decorating, Santa, treats, and hot chocolate. A day of delight especially for the Christmas season.
Lions Pancake Breakfast. Sunday, December 4th, at the Victoria City Hall on Rose Street in downtown Victoria from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Featuring pancakes, French toast, sausage, orange juice, milk, and coffee.
Pearl Harbor Day. December 7th. On December 7th, 1941, Japanese planes attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, killing more than 2,300 Americans. The USS Arizona was destroyed and the USS Oklahoma capsized. The following day, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt called December 7th a date which will live in infamy.
Victoria City Council Meetings. Scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 12th, and 5:30 p.m. on Monday, December 19th, at the Victoria City Hall on Rose Street in downtown Victoria.
St. Victoria Christmas Concert. Sunday, December 18th, 5:00 p.m. at the St. Victoria Catholic Church on Victoria Drive. "God is With Us." Free admission. Free will offering.
Christmas Day. Always observed on December 25th. A Christian date celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, God made man, second person of the Holy Trinity.
Boxing Day. Monday, December 26th. Also known as the Feast of St. Stephen, after the first Christian martyr. It originated in the 19th century as a holiday for members of the merchant class to give boxes containing food and fruit, clothing or money, to trades people and servants as an expression of gratitude. Theses gifts were usually given in boxes. |
