To the Editor: Hi, Sue. We have an event coming up at Southview Elementary School in Waconia that we would love some publicity for from the Gazette. The event is a community event, not aimed at being a fundraiser, for the community to come shop various vendors and crafts in one place. Theresa Schmitz Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: Jerry and I are now residents of Sarasota, Florida. We made the decision after our multi-state trip that started on December 13th, 2012, the day after I retired. We tried out Hawaii, California, kicked the tires in Arizona, and ended up here. The link I am sending you will summarize why we are here: "Can you find any other community that reflects Southwest Florida's stereotype -- retirees in sunglasses -- and also relishes reinventing itself as a place where passions evolve into world class art?" We bought a nice home in Osprey, FL (just outside Sarasota) in July, after we sold our home in Victoria. We had been here in May and decided this would be it. We sold nearly everything we owned except our dishes and some clothes and really feel good about being here. We joined a church, also the local Y, and signed up for monthly lectures at New College Florida, and I am still volunteering. We still have our cottage in northern Minnesota but we probably will sell that in 2015. I miss you great folks. I feel like this is definitely our new home. Please drop a line when you can. Kim Roden (kroden356@gmail.com) Former Victoria City Councilmember Osprey, Florida
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Just finished the November issue of the Gazette. Thought you might be interested in knowing a fun fact for next year's Daylight Saving Time. There's no "s" at the end of Saving Time. It's just Daylight Saving Time. I wasn't aware of it myself until someone pointed it out to me. Just thought I would share, as I always appreciate knowing the correct vocabulary. I'm from Carver and read the Gazette from my friend Darlene Vogel. She passes it on to me when she is done reading it. I also hear many TV and radio hosts say the letter "o" when referring to a number, when really it's "zero" -- as "o" is a letter and not a number. The score was 23-zero and not 23-o. See ya. Linda Jeurissen Carver, Minnesota
To the Editor: I am on the distribution list to help disabled vets. If you know of a vet who can use an aluminum ramp, let me know. It is being donated in Coon Rapids. Bob Ayotte Chanhassen, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. I would be very appreciative if you would send me a copy of the November Gazette with our thank you letter in it for Connor's scrapbook. Christy Jeurissen Savage, Minnesota
To the Editor: As new residents, we appreciate the Victoria Gazette immensely. It is our window into the past, present, and future of our new world. Victoria has proven to be not only a friendly, welcoming city, but a beautiful one as well. Oddly enough, one of the first things I noticed was the expertly mowed sides of the roads. Fearful of all the critters that the natural beauty hides and releases in front of my car, I greatly appreciate the care which the sides are mowed. Please thank whoever is responsible for mowing in and out between the trees so we have better views of would-be road kill. Loving the city and proud to becoming part of it. Rebecca Jano Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: My column in the November paper turned out looking great. I will be sending more to finish off my project for class but may be interested in more when the class is finished. My professor at Hamline University is asking me to have you send him an email confirming that I was published. Thanks again. Brandon Wilson Victoria, Minnesota
