Tom and Jerry BatterH from Betty Ann Claeys, mother Ghent, Minnesota 6 eggs, separated 1/2 tsp cream of tartar 1 lb. powdered sugar 1 (7 oz.) jar of marshmallow creme Add cream of tartar to the egg whites and beat until stiff Add powdered sugar, mix thoroughly, and set aside. Whip egg yolks until thick and add the marshmallow creme, stirring well. Slowly fold the egg white mixture into the egg yolk mixture. Refrigerate. Make your Tom and Jerry drink as you normally would make it. Writes, Mom, "I put 4 tablespoons of the mix into a mug, then add one shot of brandy, one shot of rum, and boiling hot water to the top. Stir and garnish with a little nutmeg. This is one Tom and Jerry mix that works for me. It doesn't curdle!"
Calico Bean PotH from Betty Ann Claeys, mother Ghent, Minnesota 8 slices bacon, fried crisp, cut up 1 cup onion, chopped 1 (14 oz.) can green beans, drained 1 (14 oz.) can lima beans, drained 1 (14 oz.) can kidney beans, drained 1 (14 oz.) can pork and beans 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed 1/2 cup vinegar 1/2 tsp garlic salt 1/2 tsp dry mustard 1/8 tsp black pepper Put all of the above into a large casserole. Mix together. Bake 1 hour at 350. Writes Mom, "You can also add some browned and crumbled hamburger to make it even heartier. This is a good recipe that I got from Ardella Runchey."
Grilled PeachesH from Matt Claeys, brother Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania 1 stick unsalted butter at room temperature 1 tsp cinnamon sugar 2 Tbsp granulated sugar 1 pinch of salt 4 ripe peaches, halved, pitted, not too ripe Canola oil Mint leaves for garnish In a small bowl, add the butter and stir until smooth. Add cinnamon sugar, granulated sugar, salt, and mix until combined. Heat grill to high. Brush peaches with oil and grill until golden brown and just cooked through. Top each with a few teaspoons of the butter, and garnish with mint leaves. Writes Matt, "I call this recipe Grilled Peaches with Cinnamon Sugar Butter. Hope you guys are staying warm. It is a lot colder there than here. Miss you guys."
