THE INSIDE STORY. When you drive down Highway 5 through Victoria, you see lots of yellow wallboard and plastic wrap encasing the new grocery store under construction. When you step inside, you see lots of activity. Dale Riley, owner of Fresh Seasons pictured above, said the place is on schedule to open in a couple months as they’re shooting for April 1st. Inside layout is very similar to their Glen Lake store -- front door, moving to the right ... fresh flowers and gifts, then the fresh deli, chicken rotisserie, some seating, olive bar, cheese bar, bakery, salmon and seafood section, meat, fresh fruits and vegetables, aisles of boxed and canned goods, frozen food aisles, organic foods, and the enticements go on and on!
Snofest Court. Here is a picture of our Snofest Court at Mayer Lutheran High School. Snofest took place the week of January 19th. The students took part in a week of crazy dress-up days, games, and good natured competition. The Victoria resident who was on the court is senior Brittany Machemehl. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to get student pictures in your paper. Always great to have our kids being recognized. New Reserve Deputies. Sheriff Bud Olson welcomes two new volunteers to the Reserve Unit of the Carver County Sheriff’s Department, William Kenyon, center, and Dan Skripka. Reserve Deputies meet for training every month and work side by side with full time Deputies, assisting with many tasks. They work throughout the county in such areas as water patrol, snowmobile patrol, county and city events, the Carver County Fair, community relations presentations, dances. The Reserves are volunteers who have an interest in law enforcement related activities and in helping their community. For more information on the Carver County Reserve program, call 952-361-1206. Applications are currently being accepted. Lt. David M. Williams Carver County Sheriff’s Office Carver County, Minnesota
In a Humorous Vein. It was not a blood curdling cry at the recent Victoria Bloodmobile, and although it was in vein, it was not in vain on this cold weather vane day at the Victoria Field House. It was Tony Vogel pulling a stunt for the camera and the editor loved it.
1st Place This Time! I’m enclosing another picture of the Chanhassen Storm 7th grade Boys Bronze basketball team. This time they took 1st place!
