Victoria Lions sponsor the Victoria Bloodmobile twice each year since 1974. That’s Lion Jerry Schmieg and Lion Kurt Zuppke among several others who help with set-up and take-down at the Victoria Field House. There’s a whole array of photos in Sue’s Album.
2009 Posse Officers. Carver County Sheriff Bud Olson (left) recently swore in the 2009 slate of officers for the Carver County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse. The officers include (l-r): First Lieutenant Emily Boote of Tonka Bay, Sergeant Denise Herntier of Shakopee, Captain June Hilgers of Waconia, and Second Lieutenant Jayne Meyer of Eden Prairie. The swearing in took place at the posse’s January monthly meeting at the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. The Posse is a volunteer organization that assists the Sheriff’s Office with security and crowd control, search and rescue operations, community relations and outreach activities, as well as special missions as assigned. Those interested in becoming a member are welcome to attend one of the posse’s monthly meetings, which happen on the second Monday of each month. In addition to attending monthly meetings and participating in events, members and their horses are required to attend several training programs throughout the year. It is required that members own a horse and have a means to transport it. A Carver County residence is not required in order to be a member. For additional information about the Carver County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, contact the Sheriff’s Office at 952-361-1212. Leslie Michel, Administrative Services Manager Carver County Sheriff’s Office
Sugar and Spice till they meet on the ice! That seems to be the case for the Chan Chaska girls U10A hockey team. After starting the season with a victory against Burnsville, the girls traveled to Superior, WI. They dominated the ice by not only capturing the championship, but also by their fantastic display of teamwork and sportsmanship. The success continued at home as they defeated Edina 3-2. The most recent success took place in Buffalo. After two wins against Forest Lake and Rochester, and a loss during sudden death overtime against Osseo/Maple Grove, the team proudly brought home the second place trophy. Way to go, girls!
