Victoria Moments Continued

Mrs. Amy Gallus of Victoria (holding the flowers) is one of twelve teachers from across the U.S.A. to receive the 2009 Distinguished Teacher Award from the Department of Elementary Schools of the National Catholic Educational Association.  There must be something in the water here at Guardian Angels Catholic School because our Principal, Mrs. Nancy Ronhovde, was recognized as one of the top principals in the nation five years ago!  As far as we know, no other parochial school in the nation has won two such national awards for excellence.  We are being recognized as an excellent faith-filled school.

Mrs. Gallus was chosen from a possible pool of more than 100,000 teachers.  She has been teaching at Guardian Angels Catholic School in Chaska since 2001, having completed a  Master’s Degree and an Education Specialist’s Degree from the University of St. Thomas, granted a Murray Scholarship for both programs, while teaching full time.  Mrs. Gallus will be honored at special ceremonies and a banquet at the annual Convention of the NCEA on April 14th in Anaheim, CA.  The award will be presented  by Mrs. Nancy Ronhovde!

At the Ar-BRRR-etum.  Some folks celebrated New Year’s Eve holiday by donning their cross country skis or snowshoes at the nearby MN Landscape Arboretum.  With its 8.5 miles of cross county ski trails and 1.25 miles of snowshoe trails, the Arboretum is a perfect place to enjoy a quick refreshing loop and burn off holiday calories.
