Wheels in the Air. I snapped this photo (below) at 12 noon on Monday, December 22nd, as I was heading east toward Park Drive from downtown Victoria. It was the second car in the ditch on this 8 degrees below zero day. The night before (December 21st), Allan and I witnessed a car slide into the ditch and saw three others already in the ditch. The roads looked good but they weren’t. Allan said it’s called “black ice,” and that salt doesn’t work when the temperatures reach certain below zero temperatures. Editor Sue Victoria, Minnesota |
