Every New Year we get to start over with all the activities that have become annual events in our fair little city. Oops. We are now a fair moderate-size city, since our population has exploded to nearly 8,000. The next event on our calendar is the Victoria Fishing Contest. I'm not really an outdoor person when it comes to winter, but I always enjoy being out on the lake, even when it's frozen. Maybe I'll see you there. If you tap me on the shoulder, I'll take your picture for the next issue of the Gazette. In case you're interested, I'm the one with the big Prada sunglasses, the real Mink earmuffs, the Ugg boots, and the tiny little unobtrusive camera that often works wonders for me.

The fishhook was hidden last month in the snow-capped roofline of the little home in the Kerber Homes ad on page 34. Many of you were swimming around in my minnow bucket for a few days and weeks, waiting to be pulled out for this New Year's Drawing, but only one of you made it safely to shore and that was Terry Waechtler of Victoria. Congratulations, Terry. The check for ten bucks will be on its way to you shortly. You might want to use it to buy a little bait for the Victoria Ice Fishing contest. Don't forget about tapping me on the shoulder. One other thing, I've usually got this burly mountain man at my side and he doesn't ice-fish either. In fact, he's gearing up for turkey hunting this spring.
