CHANGES IN VICTORIA FEE SCHEDULE

SOME OF THEM ARE GROWLERS

Council adopted the 2013 Fee Schedule for city services, licenses, and other fees to become effective January 1st, 2013.

Some of the new fees include, for example, $3,300 for an On-Sale Brewer's Taproom License, $310 for a Small Brewer Off-Sale License (Growler), and $250 for a Liquor License Transfer Fee.

Explained City Clerk Jennifer Kretsch, "The Brewer's Taproom License is for a small brewer that makes its own brand of beer.  It is not a full brewery as they brew less than 3,500 barrels per year.  A typical small brewer is less than 2,000 barrels per year.  The taproom portion is an on-sale tasting room."

What is a growler?  "A growler is a half gallon glass jug of beer that can be sold off-sale," she explained.  "Typically, customers will buy the growler from the brewer and bring it back to get it refilled.  This license can also be combined with the on-sale, or an establishment can just brew and sell off-sale and not have a taproom.  Victoria does not have one, but I have recently received inquiries into them."

Another new fee is $500 for vacation of property or vacation of an easement.

Some of the increase in fees include, for example, an increase of $5 in the Fire Sprinkler Inspection Fee (from $50 to $55), an increase of $211 for the third and subsequent Fire/CO False Alarm Fee (from $55 to $266), an increase of from $20 to $50 for Annual Memberships at the Victoria Recreation Center, and an increase of $70 in the SAC Charge (from $2,365 to $2,435).

Some fees were removed from the books, such as fees for copies, maps, record drawings, digital maps, photocopies and similar documents.

A majority of the fees in the city remain unchanged for 2013.
