Text Box: Drawn to Develop Continued

***

Fred was also drawn to develop Boulder Point in Elko, a golf course neighborhood like Deer Run, and several other neighborhood projects in Inver Grove Heights and Chanhassen, for example.

Fred doesn't tell some things on himself but the editor can do so since we've worked and played together for many years.  Fred was a longtime member of the Victoria Commercial Club, the Victoria Lions, and the Lake Auburn Moravian Church where he sang in the choir and served in other capacities.  In 1988, when downtown Victoria was dying, he worked hard to bring in a German restaurant and develop an "Alpine Village" theme.  In 1992 he was part of a group that studied sites for an elementary school in Victoria.  In 1994 he was President of the Victoria Chamber of Commerce and worked to get a traffic signal downtown.  As a Chamber member he dutifully worked at the annual Fishing Contest and the annual Touch of Bavaria.  Fred was also a longtime member of the Chaska Rotary and is now an honorary member of the Chaska Rotary.

Fred Plocher has been an initiator as well as a worker behind the scenes all his life.  Said his wife Mary Sue, who whispered that Fred was the President of his fraternity at Hamline University, "He is a leader kind of guy.  It's part of who he is.  And Fred is a wonderful father to Shelly and Julie and grandfather to Schuyler, Nicholas, Caitlyn, and Ellie."

Congratulations, Fred, on your recent honor at Deer Run.  Thank you for the many wonderful things you've done for Victoria.  Let us know when your novel is published.

EDITOR’S NOTE: You can find several other photos from the June 15th celebration in Sue’s Album or click here:  Thank You, Fred.
