Letters to the Editor |
To the Editor: How wonderful was Jan Olingers write-up in the May issue about the Fredrickson Brothers Family story! Jan is a fabulous writer and I’ve said she should have a column in the paper. I cried at the end of the article thinking of “You Are My Sunshine” and “Take Me Out to the Ballagame” and the music connection -- I taught Lee Ann piano -- that brought the wonderful Olinger family into my life. Thank you, dear Sue, for printing that winner of a story. I enjoyed your cover story too and I saw my letter to you. The days of ecumenical choirs and choir festivals that we had years ago seem to be over. I, too, enjoyed that time and meeting other choir people in the area. Do you know that I haven’t taken the time to visit your new St. Victoria church building? I just got back from seeing Minnetonka High School kids put on “Jesus Christ Superstar.” It was far better than the Chan Dinner Theatre production -- more like broadway. What talented kids there are these days! Blessings. Lydia Holsten Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: My mother called and told me about your story in the Gazette. Can’t wait to see it. You do good work. I am impressed. I think you have done great with the array of pictures I sent you and explaining the process. I would suggest only one thing, if you want to make a change. Perhaps all the dark wax images should all be in one section, and the fresh bronze castings in the shell pieces in another section. The order you have also really works as it is since no one will totally understand how complicated the process is. Love and great joy. David Kocka Laconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: Awesome reading about the Blessed Mother and her journey in your truck. She will stand for a century or more here on earth at St. Victoria. What an awesome contribution to our parish, town, county, and area. The people who see her will be blessed. I look forward to her arrival. What a beautiful sight she will be. Thank you for your huge story in the Gazette and for making her a reality. Janie Jasin Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thank you for your beautiful story about “A Mother’s Journey.” Can’t wait to see her at St. Victoria. Also loved Addie’s flower picture. What a darling. Found the fishhook on page 8 (my lucky number). It is on the cute dog telling us about Vic’s best burgers. Cynthia Harris Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Just got home from a trip to Florida for Mother’s Day and read the Gazette. The poster that Kay Meuwissen and Ron Holtmeier wrote about in your letters section hung on a wall of my church office at Lake Auburn. It was a gift many years ago from my son and a very good friend. I have since given it to Pastor Mary Bielke who is serving a Moravian congregation in North Dakota. As far as I know, Dana Carvey, aka “The Church Lady,” is serving still in North Dakota. Peace, Love, and Blessings. Pastor Frank Jones Rochester, Minnesota
