SHORTER SCOOP FROM MAY NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING JUNE 4TH ON P.W. SITE *City Manager Don Uram said that he and Public Works Superintendent Chuck Almhjeld and the architect on the proposed new Public Works Building walked the site at the Hartman Tree Farm on Bavaria Road. "It's a fantastic site and it should work well for the use being proposed," he said. *The City is holding a 1st neighborhood meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th, to look at preliminary plans for a Public Works facility to be constructed at 8099 Bavaria Road. Council approved a purchase agreement for part of the Hartman Tree Farm property April 22nd. *Council authorized the Victoria Fire Department to apply for a grant from Minnesota Valley Electric to replace one of their existing radios. The grant is for a maximum of $2,000. Cost of the radio is $4,628. The VFD pays the remaining cost. *Council approved an update to the Engineering Design and Construction Standards Manual to reflect new technologies, construction methods, and requirements. They were last updated in 2007. *Council authorized the execution of the Carver County Solid Waste Grant Agreement which outlines requirements of the use of the grant. The City of Victoria uses the $6,248 annual grant to pay for its spring and fall composting program. *Council accepted donations to T-Ball and Coach Pitch (Elite Waste Disposal $100, Casey's General Stores $100, Roberts Automatic Products $100), to Concerts in the Park (Park Nicollet Chanhassen $100, Robb's Electric $100, Bertas Funeral Home $150, Golden Bantam Management $100), and to Parks and Recreation (Mary and John Ramseth, fitness equipment, and Fleet Farm $25). *Council approved a temporary liquor license for the City of Victoria for the 2013 Volksfest in 2013 on behalf of the Victoria Business Owners Association. The cost will be reimbursed by the VBOA. *Council accepted the Audited Financial Report from city auditors Aaron Nielsen and Jackie Huegel of MMKR for the year ended December 31st, 2012. |
