To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  In regard to your question, Pierson Lake sits in the middle of these four roads:  on the east is County Road 43 (which is Church Lake Blvd), on the south is County Road 10, on the west is Laketown Road, and on the north is Tellers Road, which is currently the southwest corner of the City of Victoria.

Representatives of Schutz Lake and Wasserman Lake were present at our meeting, and they are also part of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District.

I’ve always been aware that you like to keep your pictures and stories as close as you can to Victoria.  After all, it is the Victoria Gazette, not the Carver County Gazette.

EDITOR’S NOTE:  Hi, Kurt.  I’m always happy to use your photos and information.

To the Editor:

Hi, again, Sue.  I’m thinking I should make the geography and hydrology that “connects” us a little clearer.

As you know, Pierson Lake does not reside in the city limits of Victoria.  However, it is the headwaters of Six Mile Creek, which flows into Marsh Lake, which is also in Laketown Township.

Next it flows to Lake Wasserman, which is by Deer Run and in the city limits of Victoria.  From there it heads out past and wraps around the Watermark development until it flows very secretly under Highway 5 into Lake Auburn, Lunsten Lake, Parley Lake, all within the Three Rivers Park District.

From there the Six Mile Creek continues on to St. Boni and finally Halsteads Bay of Lake Minnetonka.  The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) ends there.

So we are joined at the hip with Victoria.  Even though I have a Chaska mailing address and reside in the Waconia School District, when asked where I live, I always say Victoria.

To the Editor:

My brother and I sold our parents’ home at Schutz Lake to the Three Rivers Park District.  I was there the morning that they took the house down, to watch.  I took a bunch of photos and sent them to all of our family members scattered around the country.

My daughter lives in Waconia and gave me a copy of your article about our family and the house coming down.  I tried to scan it for forwarding, but it didn’t come out very well.  She previously was able to secure three copies of your November 2009 Gazette, on “The Hat Lady,” which I mailed both originals and photocopies.

Could you send me a link or an email on “Clearing the Land” that I could forward on?  Thank you.

To the Editor:

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) will hold a public informational meeting on Wednesday, March 10th, to discuss water quality projects on Wasserman Lake in Laketown Township, MN.

At the meeting, District staff will present findings from a study that explores the feasibility of options that will lower excessive levels of phosphorous, a nutrient that can cause algae blooms and degrade aquatic habitat.  Wasserman Lake currently exceeds phosphorous limits for clean water.

This is an informational meeting, with opportunities for the public to comment.  The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at Laketown Hall.  Please contact James Wisker (952-471-0590, extension 206) or jwisker@minnehahacreek.org for more information.

Since its formation in 1967, the MCWD, formed by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners, has led the region in cutting edge research and technical expertise in the areas of water quality monitoring and management.

The District protects, improves, and manages water resources, runoff, and related natural resources for 129 lakes, 8 major creeks, and thousands of wetlands located within the 181 square mile watershed of Minnehaha Creek and Lake Minnetonka, in partnership with 29 communities, other agencies, and concerned citizens.

Learn more about MCWD’s clean water efforts at www.minnehahacreek.org.
