Victoria Lions Pancake Breakfast. Sunday March 6th, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall.

St. Patrick’s Day. Thursday, March 17th. This is not the day St. Patrick was born but the day he died. Most scholars believe he died in 461 A.D. He did not look like a leprechaun. Leprechauns are small old men about two feet tall, they dress like a shoemaker, and keep a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

First Day of Spring. March 20th to 21st, depending on what day the vernal equinox occurs. This is when the sun sits directly above the equator on its apparent trip northward. Of course, the sun isn’t moving; the earth is. The word “equinox” comes from Latin and means “equal nights.” Sunrise and sunset are about 12 hours apart everywhere on earth.

Victoria Gazette Deadline. Monday, March 28th, or as close to that date as possible.

Victoria City Council Meetings. Always at 6:30 p.m. at Victoria City Hall in downtown Victoria, on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, so this month it’s Monday, March 14th, and Monday, March 28th.

Victoria Lions meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Victoria Hall on Rose Street at 6:30 p.m.

Victoria Business Council meets on an irregular basis.

Victoria Senior Citizens meet weekly on Thursdays at the Acorn House in Diethelm Park.
