The Victoria GAZETTE |
To the Editor: Another wonderful Gazette in Februrary. On page 15 you placed our city’s logo along with the motto, "Victoria, City of Lakes and Parks." What makes it unique is the church and the cross in the center. I am proud of our city which is not afraid to show a cross and a church. Thanks again, Sue, for your contributions to our city and for keeping us well informed and for being a Christian. Mal Macalpine Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: We love the Gazette and enjoy all the old pictures. I found the fishhook on page 22 in the Metropolitan Ford ad. Carol Weinzierl St. Bonifacius, Minnesota
To the Editor: The Carver County Historical Society is seeking volunteers to help in a variety of areas -- library indexing and research, educational programs and school groups, the county fair, special projects that pop up such as the Peterson barn, and so much more. People are invited to come and share their skills, experience, and interests, and we will find a job you love to do. For further information, contact Heidi Gould, Education and Volunteer Coordinator, at 952-442-4343 or email hgould@co.carver.mn.us. Heidi Gould Carver County Historical Society, Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: March will be an exciting month for individuals interested in learning Red Cross-certified CPR and First Aid techniques. In celebration of American Red Cross Month, the Carver County Red Cross chapter will be hosting three “Lifesafer Saturday” training sessions at a reduced price of $30. All CPR certifications are now good for two years. The sessions will be held at various times and locations in March. This is an effort to make people aware we are offering special opportunities for residents to learn life savings skills at a reduced price. Call the Carver County Chapter at 952-467-4449 for registration or visit www.carvercountyredcross.org. LaVonne Kroells, Chapter Manager Carver County Red Cross
To the Editor: Top of the mornin’ O’Editor O’Orsen! Aye, yes, ‘tis the jolly month of March, the month me dad turns 88 and me twin brothers turn 57. When my brothers were born, Dad said not every baby is born with two heads. Dad is 88 and still goes full speed like he’s 28. He and my step-mom, Helen, are still in Mesa, Arizona, hibernating. They have had some cold snaps of 28 degrees. Even 40 degrees is getting cold there. Dad gets his quota every day out on the golf course playing cow pasture pool, soaking up some sun, cracking pecans, going on tours, playing bingo, bridge, 500k and cribbage, and entertaining company. A hearty thanks, Editor Sue, for the ten bucks last month. That comes in handy for laundry money. It adds up taking $1.25 a load. The last time I won the Hook Line Sinker thing was about seven years ago. Along with the ten bucks that time was a hat or t-shirt from Cabin Fever Sporting Goods. This time the fishhook was on the heart on page 22 of the February Gazette in the Ford ad. Kay Meuwissen Chaska, Minnesota
