SHORTER SCOOP FROM FEBRUARY MANY DONATIONS TO THE CITY OF VICTORIA *Council accepted the following donations on February 10th: Riverfront Printing, $100 for Park and Rec Safety Camp; Lions Tap ($50 each for Concerts in the Park, Movies in the Park, T-Ball, Safety Camp); Fresh Seasons ($25 for Movies in the Park); IWCO ($100 for Safety Camp); Victoria Lions ($3,675 for Fire Department EMT Training); Victoria Veterinary Care ($75 each for Concerts in the Park, Movies in the Park). *Council accepted the following donations on February 24th: Chanhassen Center Drug ($100 for Concerts in the Park); Signature Electric ($100 for T-Ball and Coach Pitch); Midwest Dental Care ($100 for T-Ball and Coach Pitch); Brian and Lori Miller ($100 for the Fire Department); White Oak Dental ($100 for T-Ball and Coach Pitch); Drazan Henke & Associates ($100 for Movies in the Park); Elite Waste Disposal ($100 for T-Ball and Coach Pitch). *City Engineer Cara Geheren reported that she is currently completing the feasibility study on Kochia Lane and 78th street. *Mayor Tom O'Connor thanked Public Works Director Ann Mahnke and her crew for all of their continuing snow removal work during this long cold winter. "Many mornings they are out there at 3 o'clock," he said. "The city owes you and your team a great debt." *Council voted to move forward in soliciting Requests For Proposals for legal consulting services. The city's current legal contract is up at the end of 2014. It is the city's policy to solicit RFP's on a rotating basis for its various consulting services. *Councilmember Strigel reported that the Victoria Band Stand project is moving along nicely and will probably be constructed this summer, hopefully to be ready in time for the Victoria Volksfest. The 30 by 50-foot platform is designed to hold up to 50 musicians. The Band Stand is all privately funded. Mr. Uram clarified that the city will be on the hook for long term maintenance including in the upcoming 2015 budget. |
