Good Cause for Paws. Our son Ryan Druce organized a food drive for the Carver/Scott Humane Society animals through his school. In coordination with winning “Principal for the Day” at The World Learner School of Chaska, Ryan organized a dog and cat food drive to benefit the Carver/Scott Humane Society. The students at World Learner School raised more than 800 pounds of dog and cat food in just three days. The donations raised by this amazing group of students will help to save and improve the lives of many animals. The World Learner School of Chaska is a public Montessori Charter Elementary and Middle School that is dedicated to empowering students to be well-rounded and socially responsible. Part of the school’s mission is to help children unfold their full potential in classroom, local and world communities. Located at 112050 Hundertmark Road, near Higwhay 41 and Hundertmark Road, it really is an amazing place for children to learn, grow, and thrive. Sybil Druce Victoria, Minnesota

Victoria Lion President Steve Olson, left, presented a check for $500 to District Governor Darwin Mathwig on Thursday, April 8th. Not shown is Lion Jack Webster of Waterville who introduced Journey For Sight (now known as Journey for Service) to the District and has annually visited all clubs in the District since 1978 when I was District Governor. The bike-a-thons in the beginning (back in those days he rode the 600-plus miles on a bicycle) were held for the benefit of the Lions Hearing Center in alternating years. When the bika-a-thon was delayed from early spring to June, Jack suffered a heat stroke. Many of our Victoria Lion members would accompany Jack from Victoria to Chanhassen and on to Shakopee. Those were memorable times, especially for Lee Miller and myself on a bicycle built for two with no brakes. Lion Jerry Schmieg Victoria, Minnesota
This paper doll was given to Mary C. Gerdsen when she was 13 years old in 1885 by her Sunday School teacher. She later married The Rev. Clement Hoyler at Lake Auburn Moravian Church. He later was elected a bishop of the Moravian Church. Both are now resting in our Lake Auburn Moravian Cemetery here in Victoria. Mary was a cousin of mine. Ron Holtmeier Victoria, Minnesota
