Medals for the Champions. The CCU United U15-C3-2 girls soccer team opened their season with an incredible tournament in Blaine. The team played their first game of the season against the Blackhawks, winning by an overwhelming 9-0. Their second matchup was against the CIS Storm. CC United won another strong shutout 5-0. In their third game versus the CDA Rebels, the girls prevailed in another lopsided game 7-0. The U15’s earned their championship medals winning 2-0 against a tough Maplebook team. Each win showcased great total team effort with smart ball handling and tight passing. Front (l-r): Taylor Ryshavy, Kelsey Tatge, Samantha Johnson, Lauren Early, McKenzie Romportl, Briana Immerman. Back: Coach Bob Early, Sarah Henrickson, Gina Pertouka (sub), Jessica Signalness, Harlee Skaja of Victoria, Shelby Cmaeron, Taylor Lundgren, Lauren, Lantz, and Jordan Golberg of Victoria, Coach Brian Johnson. Not pictured: Niclette Peterson. These 15-year-old girls, who attend Chaska and Chanhassen High Schools, look forward to a great successful season ahead with Coach Johnson, Coach Early, and Manager Lori Cameron. Spring Golfers. This Chaska High School girls golf team tied for second at the Lakeville South Invitational, losing by only one stroke to Rosemount High School. It was regular stroke play, individually, but for the team they scored Best Ball, taking the lowest score from each of the six teammates and posting that as a total. Kara Notvedt of Victoria earned First Place Individual Medalist with an 85 (39 on the front, 46 on the back). Southwest Metro Tournament Trophy. Perhaps your parish sent a team to the annual Guardian Angels tournament. Those teams playing in the tournament on Saturday and Sunday, April 24th and 25th, included St. Hubert’s at Chanhassen, St. Victoria at Victoria, St. Mark’s at Shakopee, Our Lady of the Lake at Mound, Our Lady of Grace at Edina, St. Michael’s at Prior Lake, St. Nicholas at Carver, St. John’s at Excelsior, Immaculate Heart of Mary at Minnetonka, St. Therese at Deephaven, St. Patrick’s at Edina, Guardian Angels at Chaska. I cheered on every team that played because every parish that participated helped to build a sense of community among parishes. Seminarians and priests of the archdiocese also joined the fun. The winner of the team games won the ugliest beautiful trophy in sports. Those are Guardian Angels holding up the Trophy Basketball.
