To the Editor:

Took my mom for a ride through the Arboretum on Saturday.  The crabapple collection was outstanding.  We had to get out and walk through the trees for a bit.  I don't think I have ever seen trees with that many flowers.  Hope you got to see it.  If not, take a few minutes out of your busy schedule and run out there soon.

Victoria will be "rockin" during the summer of 2012 leading up to our grand festival, Volksfest, on August 17th and 18th.  It will include our 4th annual Adirondack Community Art project.  The chairs have become a very popular event at Volksfest and gives you an opportunity to showcase your business to all who come to  visit.  All of these chairs will be auctioned off at Volksfest with awards given in various categories.  Don't miss out on being part of this highlight event.  Orders can be taken via email.

As space permits, please consider writing a story on the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre Musical Theatre Camp.  These camps have been running for nearly two decades and we have had over 10,000 students educated through these camps taught by our actors, designers, and directors.

We would so enjoying getting the Gazette at our new home in Chaska.  We are now opening a campus church in the Southwest Christian High School site in the fall.  Our family will be helping lead the launch and growth effort and will be very near our church and schools.  This will be announced on April 29th to our church family.  Blessings to you, Allan, and your whole crew.

Scientists, conservation leaders, citizens, and other experts are being captured on video as part of an online education field trip designed to increase community awareness about the health of the Minnesota River.

Ask An Expert about the Minnesota river is being developed by the Water Resources Center at the Minnesota State University Mankato to bring these experts into the classroom and through the internet.

Geologist Carrie Jennings of the Minnesota DNR is considered one of the renowned experts on glacial geology and has applied her knowledge of the distribution of glacial sediment to better define sources of sediment to modern river systems like the Minnesota river and its tributaries.

One of the goals of Ask An Expert involves teaching the public about scientific inquiry, ecological knowledge, problem solving, planning, and stewardship.  For more information, check the website of the Minnesota River Basin Data Center www.mrbdc.mnsu.edu.

To the Editor:

This week is marking Bed Bug Awareness Week to culminate the annual observance of National Pest Management Month.  Bed bugs continue to pose a serious problem in this country.  There are some basic bed bug prevention tips when traveling:  Pull back hotel sheets.  Inspect the mattress seams and box spring for telltale brownish or reddish spots, shed skins, or bugs.  Inspect your college student's belongings before bringing into your home.  Wash clothes immediately in hot water.
