The Victoria GAZETTE |
To the Editor: Because severe weather can threaten the lives and property of Minnesotans at any time, the week of April 15th-19th has been proclaimed as Severe Weather Awareness Week. The National Weather Service will issue a simulated tornado warning and outdoor warning sirens will be activated so families and businesses can activate their plans. Since the year 2000, disasters have claimed the lives of 21 Minnesotans and caused more than $373 million in federally declared damages. Every family and business should take this opportunity to put weather emergency plans into action. Tornados follow no pattern and dangerous thunderstorms are common in Minnesota. Homeland Security and Emergency Management partners with the National Weather Service and various state agencies to present comprehensive life saving information on its website. This is a time to join together as a community and share ideas to keep all Minnesotans ready. Tim Walsh, Manager Interim Emergency Management Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Cuz Sue. Love keeping in touch with all your family through the Gazette. You do a great job. Love from Winona. Judy and Greg Novotny Winona, Minnesota
EDITOR'S NOTE: Hi, Judy. It was good to see your mom when we were home in March for Dad's birthday. She was at KB's with your brother Jim.
To the Editor: Could you tell me where I can find Tom Abts' article on the Deer Run Men's Club? I heard it was in the recent April issue of the Gazette. I tried to look it up on your website but couldn't get the whole article. If you could email me a copy or tell me how to find it, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you. Harold Freeman Eden Prairie, Minnesota
To the Editor: I am doing some church research and I was wondering if you had any photos of the interior of the Historic St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria. It's been years since I've been inside so my memory is rusty and I can't seem to find any good photos online. If you had any, I'd appreciate it. Melissa McClure Photography San Diego, California
To the Editor: There was no subscription envelope in our March paper. It must have fallen out. Check is enclosed. Please keep those Gazettes coming! It's nice to read of things happening in my hometown. Hi to all my family. The fishhook is on page 10 in the dentistry ad. Thanks. Rose Ann (Schmieg) Rotzien Alexandria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thanks for the Gazette. Enjoy all the articles and pictures. Esther Sauter Bigfork, Minnesota
To the Editor: I am a bit late in telling you how much I enjoyed your March issue of the Gazette. The article about Father Bernardine was a wonderful surprise. I knew some facts about his life, but learned much more. I met Fr. Bernardine when I came to Guardian Angels High School in Chaska for the 9th grade -- maybe before -- when he and Father Elstan came out to my mom and dad's. Father gave an air of gentle authority. The kids at school respected him and there were lines nobody crossed! We visited him and Father Elstan in Bastrop, Louisiana. They were very patient and welcoming when we arrived in a Winnebago camper with seven kids. I can still remember their laughter. They were so joyful. Thank you, Sue, for bringing back some great memories. Sharon Brown Cologne, Minnesota
