VICTORIA LIONS PROPOSE EVENT LODGE USING NO TAXPAYER DOLLARS The Victoria Lions are proposing the construction of a million dollar Community Event Lodge in Lions Park. With the upcoming demolition of the Old City Hall, the Lions need a different place for their twice-monthly dinner meetings and their fundraisers.
VICTORIA BANDSTAND MOVES FORWARD MAYBE COMPLETED FOR THE VOLKSFEST Ann Mahnke, Director of Parks and Public Works, presented additional information on April 13th about a bandstand project being planned for downtown Victoria on the shores of Stieger Lake.

AN EXCLAMATION POINT FOR VICTORIA AS THE CITY IS CELEBRATING ITS CENTENNIAL Deb Zeller, a Victoria artist with several works in her repertoire, was introduced to Victoria councilmembers on April 13th, by Randy Miller, president of the Victoria Business Association, along with a miniature model of a proposed sculpture Deb will create to help celebrate and mark the Centennial of the City of Victoria.
IMPROVING PUBLIC PARKING LOT ACROSS FROM VICTORIA CITY HALL "The parking lot across from City Hall needs some modifications," reported City Engineer Cara Geheren on April 27th. A pedestrian ramp, handicap parking stalls, and crosswalk are needed.
TWO NEW PICKUPS FOR PUBLIC WORKS SNOWPLOWING IS TOUGH ON CITY VEHICLES Council approved two new purchases on April 13th for the Public Works Department: a new one-ton pickup with plow, attachments and box at a cost of $46,787 and also a new 3/4 ton pickup with plow and attachments with trade-in at a cost of $33,823.

HOPING TO KEEP BABY BOOMERS LIVING, WORKING, PAYING TAXES IN VICTORIA Two women from the Carver County Public Health Office of Aging presented Victoria City Councilmembers with information related to demographics and the massive number of Baby Boomers entering retirement and soon will be considering different housing options.
FEASIBILITY FOR DEER RUN STREETS UNCERTAINTY AT 78TH AND KOCHIA Council authorized a feasibility study for Deer Run street and drainage improvements to be done in 2015 and 2016. Scope of the project in 2015 depends on whether or not the street project for 78th Street and Kochia Lane goes forward.
