Letters to the Editor |
To the Editor: Good morning. I am the office manager at the Lighthouse in Waconia. We are an Assisted Living and Memory Care facility. Recently some of our residents have asked if we can get a subscription of the Victoria Gazette delivered to us. I was wondering what a subscription costs and if there is a senior discount. Thank you for your time. Allie Wood, Office Manager Lighthouse of Waconia Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. We just wanted to write and thank you for putting the fishhook onto our bracelet in the September issue of the Gazette. We were happy to see it. Thanks again. Diann Weinzierl Waconia, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. A few months ago, in your 30-Year Anniversary issue of the Gazette, you printed a photo of me with Harvey. Could you send me via email a copy of that photo? It would be much appreciated. Tom Abts, Deer Run Golf Course Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. How you get all the pictures and comments and editorials done each month is amazing. The Gazette is by far the most interesting and informative publication around. Keep up your good work. The October fishhook is on page 35 in the Poppitz Field Editor’s Note, around the baseball bat. Jim Igel Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Don’t that drive you batty when you mislay things? Set a pen by the phone -- gone. Found three months later under the table. Put a kleenex in the pocket -- gone. There it goes flying down the street like barrel hoops. Get ready to wash clothes, get soap and quarters, get to the laundry room, backtrack -- forgot to grab the pile of laundry. Brain fogs can drive old people batty. I’ve seen plenty where I live. Forgot the hearing aids, glasses, keys in the mailbox, jacket. Forgot what day it is, lights left on in the car. Forgot the walker, the cane. Forgot to put on pants. One old timer came on the elevator in his boxers!! Tough to get old. There’s going to be a “bat”tle royal as to who catches the big one in Lake Orsen. The fishhook is on page 35 below the bat. Congrats to Tanta Frannie Schmieg and Uncle Ray on a recent story about Heger’s Dairy. Willie Heger, the founder, was my dad’s cousin. Willie’s mom Rose was my grandma’s sister. Kay Meuwissen Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: As you know, we celebrated Customer Appreciation Day on October 9th, welcoming Jim Lahl as Office President and celebrating Mary Neubarth’s 35th anniversary with KleinBank. We also recognized and thanked three more of KleinBank Victoria’s finest. Doris Schmieg, Lois Tiggelaar, and Peggy Leuthner have provided the customers and community an additional 90 years of dedicated service. Thank you for coming. Jim Emmer, KleinBank, Business Development Officer Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: My brother John Bulat lives in Victoria. He phoned me last night to tell me about the third hole-in-one that he’s gotten at a local golf course this summer. About eight years ago he made his first hole-in-one at Superior National Golf Course at Two Harbors, Michigan. It was on Hole #16, 195 yards, and he used a driver. His second hole-in-one was at the Deer Run Golf Course in Victoria, Hole #16, 155 yards, and he used a 6-iron. His third hole-in-one was at the Chaska Town Course, Hole #6, 145 yards, and he used a 7-iron. John’s wife Shelly is from Two Harbors. She is a 1st grade teacher at a school in which Victoria students attend, Bluff Creek Elementary. I thought this might be a fun little blurb to have in your paper. I know it would surprise him. Let me know if you want more information. Kathy Brown Iowa City, Iowa
