SHORT VICTORIA SCOOP FROM OCTOBER

SHERIFF’S CONTRACT INCREASES BY $8,993

*Council approved the 2015 Contract for Police Services with the Carver County Sheriff's Office.  Contract cost to the City of Victoria went from $315,109 in 2014 to $324,102 for 2015.

*Council approved a change order for work on the trail connection at the Apple Farm in order to install draintile to reduce standing water and to obtain pollution insurance.  The contract amount was increased from $258,448 to $265,384.

*Council adopted a resolution designating the former Johnson house, now demolished, to have been a structurally substandard building.  "It's a procedural remedy," said Interim City Manager Ed Shukle.  "Building Official Tom Gray determined the building was substandard.  We don't know how it fell through the cracks."  Stated City Attorney Bob Vose, "You have identified the building as substandard in several documents but you need the resolution."  It's a definition related to a Tax Increment Financing District.

*Council approved the Round Up Grant request of $3,600 to MN Valley Electric Coop for the Victoria Fire Department to purchase two additional firefighter turnout gear sets.

*Council accepted the following donations to the Victoria Fire Department:  J & S Wigen ($1,000), Bruce and Barbara Steadman ($100), Miscellaneous ($113); also from the Family of Flory Diethelm ($1,200) for a Community Trail Bench.

*Council approved the final plat for Chevalle 17th addition at 86th Street and County Road 11.  It consists of 43 single family lots located within the city limits of Victoria.
