To the Editor: Hi, Sue. My name is Seth Evans and I am a 2004 graduate of Chaska High School. I currently am a full time musician living in Denver, CO and am bringing my band, Rossonian, back to the Midwest to play. We are playing in a show at Floyd's on November 15th and I was wondering if you might advertise the show or do a little coverage in the Gazette. I have included the press release for the event so you can read a little about it and check out our content. Thank you for your time and energy and I hope to hear from you. Thanks. My mom lives in Victoria. Seth Evans Denver, Colorado.
To the Editor: When you're at your favorite coffee shop waiting for your drink to cool, the first thing you might do is open up your laptop and search for a Wi-Fi connection. Though it is a convenience, the public should be reminded about the potential dangers of using public Wi-Fi networks. Many businesses, particularly coffee shops, campus hangouts, and even some retailers, have found that offering their patrons free Wi-Fi brings in more business and keeps customers coming back. However, it's important for consumers to keep in mind that hackers target public Wi-Fi users to steal their personal information. To avoid being hacked while using a public Wi-Fi connection: *Verify the network before use. Ask an employee of the shop what network they provide for customers. Is it password protected? *If you're signed in through an unsecured or unprotected network, be cautious about the sites you visit and the information you share. *Invest in your own personal hotspot. If you have a smartphone, contact your provider and set up a plan. Properly set up your security settings. *Cover your keyboard when typing in usernames or passwords. *If you find a USB thumb drive on a coffee table, don't use it. Some hackers leave USB thumb drives out in the open because they want you to use them. Once a compromised thumb drive is in your laptop, your personal information can be accessed. Hackers also target business travelers that spend time in airports and hotels. Such travelers are often busy answering emails. When arriving at their hotel after a long day, they might check their email one last time before getting some rest. Always be sure to log out of your online accounts and close out all programs when you're done using your laptop. Dan Hendrickson Better Business Bureau Minnesota and North Dakota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. After 42 years in the same house, we have moved! Packing, garage sales, Goodwill, staging, and more packing! We are now in a new townhouse in Chevalle, off Bavaria Road. Please keep the Gazette coming to our new address. We had a little down time and found the fishhook on the arm of the Tin Man on page 39 in the October Gazette. Thanks, Sue.
