5) What are some of the least important things in life to you? Close-mindedness, not taking responsibility for one's own actions, and dishonesty. When you are close-minded, you are not open to what is possible. This includes experiences, relationships, and solutions. Not taking responsibility for one's own actions and dishonesty go hand in hand and reflects the opposite of what I spoke about above. 6) Tell about your interest in city government. I have spent the last 3 1/2 years as a member and, more recently, Chair, of the Business Development Committee. Some of the projects I've been involved in were the Hwy 5 Marketing Plan, Discover Victoria Days, and the Community/HOA Meetings. I have learned about the complexities of managing a city and at the same time I have seen the community come together to face challenges and grow. I realized I would like to learn more about managing and governing our city. Also, the opportunity to do more while giving back to the community is a plus. My interest has grown since my time with the Victoria Business Development Committee. 7) What are your goals for city government in Victoria? To grow in a smart and thoughtful way that builds on the quality of life that we have through activities such as good fiscal management, business development and retention, and strategic planning. To work with residents and businesses to build a vibrant city together by fostering more communications and involvement. By bringing people together, educating one another, and engaging people collaboratively, we can build a great community. To develop an organization (City Council and Staff) and partnerships that will successfully take the City through the expected growth in the years to come. 8) What are your goals today for life in general? To provide a safe and loving home for my family. To help my children become confident, successful, happy people. To do the work that I love. To leave things in a better state than when I found them, when necessary. 9) How did you come to live in Victoria? We discovered Victoria when we were searching for a home where we could blend two households -- my parents' and my family's. We were originally looking for existing homes in the Chaska area where we currently lived, but not finding one that would work, so we expanded our search. We decided on Victoria because of its small town feel, green spaces, and services. 10) Where would you like to live in the future? For now, my plan is to stay here in Victoria. 11) Anything else you’d like to say? Thank you for the opportunity to share some of my thoughts and opinions. If anyone would like to continue the discussion, they can do so by connecting with me at http://lanibasa.wordpress.com. |
