To the Editor: Ever since I began reading the Victoria Gazette 15 years ago, I have held it in high regard. It is both informative and entertaining. The column authored by the "Senior Citizens Reporter," however, gives the impression that it is news about the Victoria senior citizen community. It is, in fact, an opinion column. The writer is entitled to her opinion, but rather than masquerading as a reporter, she ought to be honest about what her column is aimed at. John Helgerson Victoria, Minnesota
EDITOR'S NOTE: Ethel Ausink does not masquerade. She is honest, knowledgeable, and factual. It is I who give her the byline of "Senior Citizens Reporter." It makes me smile. Thank you for writing
To the Editor: The purpose of this email is to invite you to participate in the Deer Run Homeowners Election Forum on Wednesday, October 17th, at Victoria City Hall at 7 p.m. Mayor Thun has graciously agreed to make a few opening remarks. We will be getting back to you in the weeks ahead on the exact meeting format. We may ask other homeowners associations to join us and we will keep you apprised as to whatever response we might get. Please confirm at your earliest convenience. I will make every effort to respond in a timely manner to any questions or comments. Thank you. Jim Paulsen, D.R. Homeowners Assoc. Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: The SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce along with the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce, the Waconia Chamber of Commerce, and Chamber Explorations, is pleased to announce a group tour to Ireland in March of 2013. In addition to all the normal tourist stops, we will also be touring a Minnesota company that has a facility in Ireland and visiting with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Highlights of this nine-day tour include visits to popular tourist destinations like the Cliffs of Moher, Banratty Castle, the Ring of Kerry, and a tour of the Jameson Whiskey Distillery. The Ireland adventure is open to the public. You need not be a Chamber member to participate. Deb McMillan, SW Metro Chamber Chanhassen, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thanks very much for including photos of my sister Rose, brother in law Gerold, and me in the September Gazette. It is well done. I wondered how the pictures would look in your famous Gazette. Each paper is super and well done. At least five of us sisters enjoy it, and they like looking for the fishhook. God bless you, your family, and your readers. Sister Lois Hauwiller St. Paul, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Thank you so much for running the lengthy article on Southwest Christian High School in your September issue. There needs to be clarification, however. I was congratulated in church today for writing it. Yikes! I was the contact person for the article, not the author. The author's name is Nina Wallestad. She deserves the credit, not me. Have a great rest of your weekend. Lisa Engstrom, SW Christian H.S. Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: In my information to you for the September issue of the Gazette, there are two corrections. Class "6" should be Class "5." Class 5 is aggregate or rock. And the life expectancy of the new bridge is 75 years, not 50. In response to your other questions, the new bridge can hold its self-weight plus three lanes of HL-93 truck. What is an HL-93 truck? It is a truck with three axles developed to capture all the various weights and axle configurations of all the trucks on the road today. The old bridge was designed using the same standards. However, the old bridge had three spans and the new bridge is a single span bridge. Ken Slama, Project Engineer, MnDOT Eden Prairie, MN Office
